Advice from the Owner
Planted over 50 native plants this summer over an area with significant Blue Spruce roots that had invaded the lawn. The plants are small now, but we are looking forward to a beautiful native garden next summer. The lawn removal was the kick-start to get this project going.

Advice from the Owner
The project was well-supported by the city of Loveland and the Resource Central team. They were so helpful in the process and very professional in their communications and actions. The pictures represent the transformation from March to August 2024. Now, in August, the plants are thriving, even after a devastating hail storm in late July. I would suggest working extra hard to make sure grass doesn’t try to regrow, as well as to add some root stimulator to the plants shortly after planting. We converted a sprinkler zone to a drip and that was not difficult either, after watching some videos. I bought all materials locally, including fabric, edging, rock, and pavers. So happy with the overall results and saving water as well.

Advice from the Owner
I love the location of this hummingbird-filled garden in the front of our house. I have lots of other gardens along the side and back, but this I get to see all the time. The new garden is so much better than the water-needy green grass that was there in the past.

I love all of the pollinators that visit the garden regularly. It is very low maintenance once established and requires little to no water . The garden in a box program makes it easy to create a beautiful landscape even without any design experience.

Advice from the Owner
I’m glad to not have to mow but the challenge will be the leaves in the fall but we’ll cross that bridge when we get to it! We put in a pathway through and across after assessing our patterns through the yard. We added a shaded sitting area. Rain garden with a little river from the drain spout opens up to and it has worked fantastic so far. Built a little bridge over the river. Full sun plants down the middle and some shade ground cover on the mound with rocks. 2x2 pavers with Turkish Veronica and creeping thyme to surround them to beak up the massive amounts of rock. Also used the fort from digging up the rain garden to add a little dimension under the tree. Whew!

My plants are on a hill that only had gravel on it until I bought two Garden In A Box kits. The drought-tolerant flowers rarely need water and or care. The flowers grew quickly and the variety is beautiful.

Advice from the Owner
We always refused to water our lawn, and it was mostly a gross mess of weeds and spiky grass. We were able to completely change our yard, and now we have a great foundation to build a perfect Colorado native oasis filled with color and movement. Can't wait for our Garden in a a Box plants to grow!!
