Advice from the Owner
It all started with Garden In A Box 6 years ago. We removed turf and expanded native plant gardens each year or so. The birds, bees, and butterflies love the gardens. The neighbors love the gardens. I began with organic mulch (wood) and am transitioning to organic mulch (pea gravel.) But for walking paths or for wheelchair users, I should have used granite mixture - easier to walk on than pea gravel. Lower water use. Native plants are spreading and weeds are not. So many volunteer native plants that I can just transplant them into new garden space and don't have to pay for new plants. As gardens get established, maintenance is minimal.
